Thanked: 586I try to stay away from these political threads because I am very liberal in my thoughts and that seems to annoy you conservative cats. I am puzzled by conservatives because I find it scary when someone is openly happy with limiting the freedoms of anyone else. Things like gay marriage should never bother someone who is not gay but if the more vocal conservatives get their way, gays will be ostracized.
I guess I look at it differently. Imagine a group of people, even more conservative than conservatives were to rise to power. The first thing they'd try to do is to limit the freedoms of anyone who did not agree with them. That is a little scary to me. I am afraid of a government that tries to legislate morality. Imagine a group of Puritans or Shakers suddenly calling the shots. The rules would be impossible to live with because we are used to enjoying much freedom. They would not only put prayer in school, they'd be telling you what prayers to say and to what deity.
Please don't misunderstand me. I want you all to be able to have it your way. I just don't want you to stop me from having it my way.

honestly I think that members from both sides have this problem, liberalism puzzles me too.
And this shows what I'm talking about, Brad and I have different political views, but I really value his posts, and his approach to life. Something tells me that although we'd disagree in a political arena, I'd resonate with his approach in the workshop.

Thanked: 586I really don't have antything against anyone. I have said it again and again, we will all get along wonderfully if we don't discuss religion and/or politics. I can do that because those things are not important to me. I would rather feed you a wonderful meal than debate you on any topic. In this community there are times when I am like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I have spoken my mind and a few minutes later you people were ready to burn me at the stake.
I am not a victim, nor do I think I will ever be one. I will stick with happy topics and y'all will stay happy with me. Perfect.
Respect,
Bradiliscous

I like everyone.
Most of my posts in Convo are carefully crafted to have multiple meanings.
Which angle you see reflects on who you are.
Then some are completely flippant and shouldn't be taken seriously at all, but people do anyway.
I wish everyone liked snapping people with towels because the world would be a rosier place.

Thanked: 234I'm liberal.
I have been speaking my mind on the internet for a long time, and I think that I am pretty balanced with my approach these days. I do get frustrated with people sometimes, and I am sarcastic.
I basically enjoy debating things with people though, you can learn a lot, I hope that some of the things I say are useful as well.
I think I have a pretty abstract view of the world, and that is sometimes challenging for people.
It's all fun and games.

Thanked: 402I'm old, LOL
And I forget personal preferences easily.
If somebody says he likes to develop a new bomb today,
I will have forgotten tomorrow.
Comes in handy when he presents a pretty new razor.
I don't have problems to say that I like it then.
An "ism" is something else though. People who push it all the time.
Not a must have in my opinion.
Strangely I don't forget razors or hones.

Thanked: 234Age has nothing to do with that!
The difficult thing, sometimes, with the internet is that it's in writing until someone deletes it or you can't find it any more. So sometimes people are compelled to hunt out what you said a year ago and hold it against you.
Fortunately, I do not have the memory, and I do not harbor grudges, long enough to be one of those people.
The internet it a great equaliser, there will be people on here from every corner of life, and the only way they are judged is on what they have to say.
That is a beautiful thing. It's good that people are ready to share their views, and defend them, we would all be poorer with out debate.

Thanked: 402Oh yes, Most problems come from too much personal information.
But whats the use of sneaking around profileless?
Icedog says that a lot. If he wouldn't share, there would not be any feedback to carry him onto the next idea. Brings people forward!
Whether or not you can do that confidently depends a lot on where you are.
If its a great community with some generosity, it works and it even works to correct a mistake.
If its a school bully gathering, you're dead.

What a great thread and a great way to clear the air! Everybody take a deep breath, let it out slooooowly. Now lets get back into the fight!
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
