I lived in Hong Kong during my childhood and social panic was a regular annula occurrence. If not illness, it would be money-based (rumours of banks going under would lead to mile-long queues in the street of customers taking out life savings). Health and wealth -- the two big drivers, I guess!
I was going round my local Chinese supermarket at the weekend, stocking up on ingredients etc. when I came across this tasty selection in the frozen meat section. Perhaps swine flu came about from Asian dishes?

Personally, I don't think this flu is serious enough to warrant flu meds, since now there are reports of stains that are resistant against tamiflu.
And I've read reports that esp childeren can have significant side effects from tamiflu.
All in all, this flu is no more dangerous than the normal yearly flu. Belgium had 1 death from the mexican flu, and that was only because that person also had a double pneumonia and had a general weak immune system.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

She was never tested, so no definitive answer for you. But she did display all the classic symptoms, and given that where I live we had 100,000 new cases that week and LOADS of kids were falling ill with it... I think it was, but it was mild. Really nothing to get worried about.
In fact, I know many friends and family who have had it (some tested and confirmed, some not) and none of them were what I'd call REALLY ill.
Swine flu? Let's just call it flu and ignore what the media is doing!
Thanks for your good wishes, Lee!
