Default movies you are excited about seeing in the theater!

to me it seems like they are releasing movie trailer earlier and earlier (though maybe i just wasn't paying attention before). i always hate seeing a trailer before the feature and then seeing that it won't come out for another year!

so what movies are you excited about?

alternatively, what movies were you really excited about and then dissappointed by or impressed by? (that should make for lots to talk about )

    here's mine:
    excited about
    sherlock holmes
    alice in wonderland
    ironman 2 (i don't think i have seen a preview though)
    impressed by
    star trek
    watchmen

I know what you mean. I've seen trailers for movies that are more than a year away and wonder why they're even bothering. To be frank, I won't remember it 6 months from now.

I'm excited for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and The Last Airbender (though that may change as the trailers come out). I can't decide about Gamer. It looks interesting, and I love Gerard Butler, but I'm on the fence about it. I think I'll wait for reviews.

Lately, the few movies I've seen have been quite enjoyable: Star Trek, Harry Potter, and Inglourious Basterds. Harry Potter was enjoyable, but as a fan of the books, I do have a few mixed feelings on Yates' direction. I feel he took too much license in places he shouldn't have. Taken just as the movie, separate from the books, it was pretty good.

Star Trek and Inglourious Basterds are both purchases I've already planned. There are few movies that I feel I must own, but those two definitely make the cut.

EDIT: After re-reading your post, I'm definitely going to be seeing Ironman 2 and Alice in Wonderland. Ironman was just a cool movie. I think Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland, along with a dream cast of actors will make for, at the very least, an interesting movie.

Iron Man 2! I don't know that much about the new movie. Judging on how good the first one was, I have high hopes the new one will be good too.

Avatar in 3D on an Imax screen. Other than that I usually prefer to watch them at home without annoying teens throwing things and shouting at each other.

I went to see 'the Matrix' without knowing -anything- about that movie, other than that it was an action film, and supposedly very good.

The experience was quite unlike any other movie I've seen. First of all, the effects and the visuals were very good. But the story... wow... right about when he took the red pill and the thing with the mirror happened, I started thinking 'WTF?' and then suddenly the plot reveals itself.
Imo it was one of the best movies I ever saw.

Lord of the Rings was also excellent imo, especially because they stuck true to the books. The extended 4-5 hour DVDs are how they were meant to be seen though.

2 and 3 are ok. Better than average imo, but the first one really takes the cake. Imo, the matrix was a bit of a revolution.

I thought this was a thread about movies you wished you could see in a theater. Mine: Andrei Rublev, Stalker (or anything by A. Tarkovsky), 2001 A Space Oddessy (anything Kubrick too, I suppose) or anything by Kurosawa, anything by Fellini. OK, so I'm a fan of directors I guess. Bergman, who could forget Bergman. I guess I'll just have to get rich and build my own theater or make rich friends and make them think it was their idea to build a theater.

Alice looks like fun but I think Burton is "drifting" slightly. Avatar looks stunning. The Big Lebowski is playing at the IFC theater this friday... dude.
