I got the real flu when I was 20.
Had a really high fever for 4 days until it broke. I felt so weak it was scary.
Before that, I used to think that the flu was just like having a bad cold. Hah.
Since then, I get a flu shot every year. I know fully well they don't always work, yet my reasoning is that anything is better than nothing.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

i will NEVER get the flu vaccine. i had what i thought was the flu once when i was 10 and it lasted 12 hours. since then i have kept my body healthy and givin it what it needs to stay healthy (ie good food). the flu is just another thing that is TOTALLY preventable and makes the big pharmaceutical companies hoards of cash. thats not a conspiracy theory either, its commun knowledge/sense that they make tons of money off the flu vaccine. plus it only covers the most commun strains, whereas a healthy immune system and proper vitamin D levels covers all strains.
also, am i the only one who thinks it is strange that we are creating a vaccine for a flu that doesn't statistically effect the most vulnerable (ie the elderly and babies) and has mild flu like symtoms? this is not a pandemic or epidemic, it is a cash grab for whoever is making the vaccine.
its all bull, treat your body right and the likelihood that you will get sick is very low. if you don't then there are consequences.
alright i am done now

Thanked: 953I keep asking people why they are making such a big deal out of this. I wonder if they are afraid it will mutate into something nastier?

Thanked: 1587Again, I am no expert on this at all, but I think the Health Authorities are concerned that such a rapidly spreading strain could quite easily mutate into more virulent and vaccine-resistant strains down the track.

If that doesn't kill you I bet something else will.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

If it lasted 12 hours, it was not the flu
So your immune system can resist smallpox, the plague and leprosy as well?
It's true that a good immune system can help, but it is not a bulletproof vest.
If you get infected with a dose of germs and it's a nasty strain, you get sick.
It's true that flu vaccines make money. But they are shown to reduce risk in statistically significant ways. That's good enough for me.
Btw, how old are you? Do you have kids? Let me tell you, as soon as they hit school or daycare, your immune system is in for a surprise.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
