    I have not seen any kitchen knife shaped like that. I have seen a cleaver from Hong Kong that fits on a pole that had a heavy spine, like a straight razor, but nothing like that.

    I guess you missed my reply. It isn't a kitchen knife. It is a froe, use for controlled splitting of wood and/or bamboo. I suppose it can be used to split other things too like clams.
