"Again, where did I say "Silence" without following with "or marginalize"? Please point it out."
Hey, listen. YOU used the word "silence". Now you're trying to back away from it. If you didn't mean to say "silence", then why did you use it? If you only wanted to say "marginalize", then just use that word. YOU used both. Under what you're asserting, if I called someone an artist or a felon, I didn't really call them a felon because it was preceded by "an artist or..."
At least own up to your own choice of words... Sheesh!

Thanked: 150You are right. (wow, i can't believe i said that). I did say "silence or marginalize" and "silence" is part of that statement. Obama would silence Fox if he could, and a jouney of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Obama is on his way, and he hopes to end up silencing Fox, begining by marginalizing them.
YOU would love to see Fox silenced.

Ha,ha!! Nice comeback.
But seriously, I have no wish or desire to see Fox News, or any other news outlet, silenced by the government. That would be a rank violation of the First Amendment. But I don't believe this is the issue. The government, including the present administration, is not constrained by the Constitution from voicing comments regarding a media outlet. The administration's statements concerning Fox news did not overtly or impliedly threaten Fox. Were the statements designed to 'marginalize" Fox in terms of communicating the administration's view that Fox is not a credible outlet when it comes to reporting the news? Sure. But to equate that with the suggestion this is the first step towards government imposed censorship or infringement of free speech is simply not accurate. If the administration wants to create the impression it views Fox News as more akin to the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Michael Savage, that's not a First Amendment issue.

Thanked: 150Hitler did not start off by killing the Jews (as well as gays/christians/...). he started off by marginalizing them. Now I am not equating Obama to Hitler in his genocidal desires, I am equating Obama's actions as the first step in obtaining the final goal.
Anita Mao Tse Dunn was proud of the way the Obama campaign manipulated and, dare she say (yes she did) controlled the media. She is trying to regain that control.
However, Fox News, by its sheer dominance of the airwaves, is forcing the other media outlets to change their ways, and stop being an arm of the liberal left.

Thanked: 199I just love how people jump on the wagon and criticize a certain news agency of having it in for the administration, and say they lie about this and that, but...hmm...I don't recall anyone showing and PROOF that what they're saying isn't true. And when they make a mistake in their reporting (OMG! no WAY! they're human?! and make mistakes?!!! KILL EM!) I have always heard them own up to it.
But on the other hand...Glenn Beck has had a "red phone" on his show pretty much all last week that the White House had the number for (they were the only ones to get the number) that they could call and say "hey, what you said isn't right." But it never rang...no one in the WH challenged anything that was said. Maybe they haven't made up a cover story yet for the stuff hmm?
Yeah, and the ACORN people....yeah...they're a bunch of GREAT upstanding law abiding people! It's funny that none of the other news groups said ANYTHING about them...so yeah, Fox might not get it right all the time, but at least they aren't lying by omission like the rest.
