Yeah, I get it. I do. The issue that, I'm sure, made the teacher call for an evaluation, as it equally would me, is that he said that he'd drawn a picture of himself tortured and murdered on a cross. The evaluation revealed that he was actually just being defensive and, wow, it was the "right" guy tortured and murdered after all. Just the wrong day. *whew*

Thanked: 96The fact that something ends does not make its existence meaningless.
You tend to be a lot quieter than the "Burn the witches" crowd.
I disagree that religion causes most wars. Religion simply is an easily adapted vehicle for wars, readily seized upon by the greedy and opportunistic. Can you really think of a better vindication for unprovoked murder than "We're better than you in some absolute and utterly unprovable (and therefore not needing of proof) way."

Thanked: 953I thought the whole idea was jesus died for us and all that - maybe the kid is just understanding the divine metaphor here, and the teacher didn't understand how deep the kid was being (isn't it all of us being tortured on that cross?).
But more seriously, the schools seem quick to overreact to things these days. The kid drew a crucifix as a christmas thing - soooooooo?

Thanked: 293I have to agree here. I'm a Catholic school boy since Kindergarten. I drew more than my fair share of crucifixes. That's a major overreaction and the teacher is clearly out of his/her mind. Or completely moronic. Who, that lives in the western world, does not know about Christ and the crucifix. Sure, it's the wrong holiday, but come on, the kid is 8.
