Last year it was -18 Celsius for a full week.
It wasn't bad actually. There were no clouds, and in the sun I had no problem walking outside without a jacket. Mainly because there was no wind at all, so it was just a bit chilly.
Our houses qren't built for a full week of -18 though.
We had to keep water flowing through the pipes regularly, because some of them started freezing and we had the risk of burst pipes. In lots of old houses, this is exactly what happened.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 234Was that in January Bruno? We had a couple of weeks like that.
I still worked in a car wash then as I was in college and the water was freezing around us all day. After a couple of hours working out side in that temperature my fingers and toes would warm up and stay warm, and feel really warm, until the evening when we got quieter. We did 250-300 cars a day like that. I've never seen water freeze like that, it was quite incredible. We used to deice the floor every hour at least.

Thanked: 235Just thought I would chime in. It's winter here in Bangkok too. At night the temp is getting down to a chilly 24c (That's freezing for Thais). When the temp drops below 20 for more than three days in a row they declare a national emergency here.
Anyway, I think I have been here too long. 24c actually feels a little chilly when I get up in the morning now.

Thanked: 74Here is a couple of pictures. There isnt a bunch of snow yet, but it is deep enough that I am not sure where to put the next snowfall when I have to shovel the driveway. The one nice thing about it being super cold is that the air is very clear. Not a cloud in the sky today.

That,s damn cold! Well I suppose you save a bit of power not having to run a fridge and freezer.
I will be thinking of you while I am delivering my mail on my motorbike with my head stuck in a helmet for 4 hours tomorrow. It,s going to be 40 celcius here.
