It's always been 'global warming' as far as I can remember.

Again, those have been the definitions for as far as I can remember.

    Sorry, not buying it.
Sorry, I wasn't around in the '20s to hear what "they" were saying. Could you cite a source for this?

I've never been one to say that the sky was falling because of global warming. I just happen to agree with the majority of the world's scientists in this field; that the Earth, on average, is getting warmer.

it is now called "CLIMATE CHANGE" by your mouthpiece al "forest gump" gore and crew(who are making millions and millions scaring people)

one more point, why are so many people starting to question global warming and scientist running away from the theory like rats fleeing a sinking ship???

First, I have nothing to do with Al Gore -- I did not vote for him nor do I particularly like him. As an unrelated point, previous administrations and their boys made millions and millions by saying that we needed to invade various countries in the middle east. The difference is, as far as I know, no Americans have died trying to prove climate change/global warming/whatever.

Second, one major source of contention with climate change is the notion that it's because man is causing it. That really has no affect on me. I simply believe that things are getting warmer and all the data that I've read seems to support that.

we are talking about global warming and al gore is the most outspoken of the crowd. that is why i pointed out his "climate change"
as for making millions for invasions of other countries, what does that have to do with al gore and company making millions off of scaring the crap out of people? the invasions would be a whole topic in itself. also why do people always bring up others dying when debating a topic?
i myself do not believe man is the problem with the so called warming. i have looked at data supplied by another member here. i do see warming trends, but also cooling trends over the past. i feel we need to step back and take a longer look at all sides on this issue. especially before taking drastic measures that will possibly destroy parts of our economy

Sure - NOAA good enough for you?

    THE CHANGING ARCTIC.

The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Sitzbergen and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures in that part of the earth's surface.

Several hundred years ago, the majority of the world's scientists thought the Sun revolved around the Earth, too - consensus does not equal science.

    Thank you for the source.

And the realization that the Earth revolved around the sun was basically where modern science started. Modern scientist consensus does, as far as I'm concerned, equal science.

    You're quite welcome.

For the other - in the scienctific method, when the data does not match the hypothesis, you change the hypothesis. Unfortunately, the AGW crowd seems to be doing it the other way around. I don't call that science.

When the AGW crowd comes up with a model that accurately reflects the Medieval Warming Period and the Little Ice Age, I might take their 'predictions' a bit more seriously.

Isn't it troubling that so many people seem to use pundits as reliable sources of scientific information, rather than the people who have done the research?

Yes, we are coming out of an ice age, but according to NASA director, and Columbia professor, James Hansen, the earth is warming up faster than it ever has... which can ultimately create disatrous effects on weather patterns. And yes... human activity is exacerbating the warming effect.

We can core glaciers and igneous rock to determine what weather conditions (and even CO2 presence) existed thousands of years in the past. And we can see alarming changes in weather patterns in recent years. Its not just about a hotter sidewalk. Global climate change is occuring first in the upper atmosphere and effecting the weather closer to home. As time progresses, if we do nothing, we will experience the results of our aloofness - for better or for worse. Even if you think that global warming may be a hoax, isn't it irresponsible to just blow off some of the worlds most accomplished scientists because of what Rush Limbaugh and Mike Savage believe?

If you do the research, you will find the answers. If you listen to pundits and politicians, you're just a pawn... just another voice parroting their agenda and acting as an armchair lobbyist for people that only care about themselves.
