Thanked: 1195Or lack thereof, meaning they were duped and making the war illegitimate. To tie this to the topic at hand.... if the major American news networks (Fox included) actually did what they are supposed to do - you know, check their facts - instead of blindly believing what they have been told, maybe the entire bloody mess could have been avoided.

Thanked: 431There was nothing illegitemate about it and FOX is not the one who approved it. Go back through the thread, it has already been shown that they check their sources much more than the leftist media who just make crap up.

Thanked: 6So, in the last 12 hours, you've consulted election law for every state to find out what (if any) penalties are assessed against faithless electors? Go, you!

Thanked: 1195I agree, Fox didn't approve the war. That doesn't mean it wasn't illegitimate, as Bush and his cronies clearly made up their "evidence" to gain support for their hidden agenda. However the news media, Fox included, lapped up all the BS that Bush was spewing at the time instead of investigating it further. I think we all know that there's a lot of politicians that aren't that bright, and I'd wager that quite a few learn their world news from the same sources as the rest of us: mainstream media. The difference is we don't influence policy, they do, and that's a scary thought if they believe half the garbage that's broadcast every night.
As for your assertation that "it (Fox) has already been shown that they check their sources much more than the leftist media", I'm sorry, but I've been with this thread since the beginning and there is absolutely nothing in it that clearly backs up that absurd statement.
PS - Just because the media broadcasts something you don't personally agree with doesn't automatically make it "LEFTIST" (capitalized to emphasize scary communist word) crap. This habit of generalizing things as left or right, or black and white, is as annoying as it is simplistic.

QUOTE]
The fact that congress voted to go to war makes it a legitimate war. The argument that Bush lied holds no water, congress had the same intel available, just because they chose to take someones word for it does not give them a legitimate excuse. No one escpecially a congress person with a whole staff can blame someone else for their lack of research. If you go back and look, FOX was far from the only network pushing for us to go to war.

Can we just conclude that both right and left wing politicians and news networks are no better than their counterparts? Just because you are a republican does not make the democrats worse (or the other way around).

I don't know how you guys in Belgium keep your kettles, but mine's nice an shiny -- the depth of chrome on it is quite unsurpassed. Unlike those dirty pots which get all greased up and carbonized.
So remind me, is the pot Fox News in this metpahor, and the kettle is everyone else, or is...
Ah, fugeddit.
