If it wasn't for Fox News we would've never found out about:

    Van Jones
    Daschle
    Richardson
    Geithner
    Acorn

and the list goes on, and on, and on

these penalties generally are light. No faithless elector ever has been prosecuted under one of these statutes.

To address your "ignore the strong statement" comment, I will repeat what I said, above, and expand upon it slightly so that it is clear.
Uhm... consult my post 59 and post 62 in this thread.

Nope, I'd say it was closer to crying tears of sorrow.

It's nice to see we both agree that neither had the experience to run the country.

However the people's appointed and elected elite didn't really care to get to the bottom of this so at the end of the day GW Bush was appointed president.

According to the link concerning voting numbers you provided. There was around 51 percent of voting age voters who voted, and of that number around 51 percent voted for AL if you lump all voters into one group(which we dont in the USA). So according to this about 26 percent of the americans eligible to vote, voted for gore. By voting as seperate states, it is possible to lose in the popular vote and win in the state by state vote(electors) which has been touched on already. And has been already touched on, Gore was trying to circumvent election law in florida, the SC wasnt trying to circumvent the vote. So no most of the american people DID NOT vote for AL. And no Al did not have his presidency stole from him by the supreme court.
Your post 59 did make one good point, yes we do need to return to the republic and throw away this democracy, IMO. But it is not so much to rein in the american people but to be true to the basic law of the land, the constitution, the document meant to rein in the federal government.

Of course that would only specifically be based on 'news viewership' and not voters, which are not the same thing. Many 'voters' have no idea what is going on, in part because they are not 'news viewers'.

Doubtful. Almost everyone in Congress voted to go ahead with it and they all had the same intel.
