Judge a news organization by what they don't tell you.

I don't know, I still think the point to the news media is so someone can go and read or hear a news item reported the way they already believe about it. Or not have item reported at all.
People want their opinion validated so they can feel good about themselves. They want to know that they are intelligent and above all - not wrong! And they want their team to win and also not be wrong.
The media outlets are just a reflection of that. I don't care which one you like.

You are confusing "news" with "editorializing". If there is an earthquake in Haiti, I want to know how big it was, what was the damage, and what can be done to help.
I DON'T want to hear speculation about corruption, deals with the devil, or other nonsense.
If there is a person running for president, I don't want to hear lies about his or her religion, unsubstantiated rumors about false citizenship, et al. I want to hear about platforms, experience, and FACTS.
Fox isn't in the business of facts. They're in the business of pandering. Other news media have separate venues for news and for "punditry". Everyone on Fox News is there specifically for a political reason.

As Daniel Webster once said, "You can always find the truth through a comparison of the lies."
AFAIK there are no more news outlets, freedom of the press belongs to those who own the presses, and the owners of the presses also own the political puppets that the mainstream populace fight over. Heads they win, tails you lose.Last edited by nun2sharp; 01-14-2010 at 03:45 AM.

*sigh*
So, the fact that there is no absolutely objective source of news justifies shameless yellow journalism?
How about this:
BBC article on Haitian relief efforts "Cuba, which also felt the quake, has sent 30 doctors. Cuban field hospitals in Port-au-Prince were already treating hundreds of injured, according to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez."
FOX news article on Haitian Relief efforts:
"But one geographically close country is conspicuously absent from the roster of helping hands.
Cuba, which had evacuated some of its residents as a precaution in case the earthquake triggered a tsunami, has so far not offered any assistance publicly to its devastated island neighbor. Though the two countries have had warm ties since establishing relations 12 years ago after a 36-year break, the Cuban government Web site, along with Cuban news agencies, did not detail any offers of Cuban aid.
A representative from the Cuban diplomatic offices in the U.S. could not be reached for comment. "
BBC checks facts, FOX news spins it's inability to get facts as Cuba's cold, heartless communist lack of action.
