Thanked: 1262This thread got me thinking and googling. I am still looking for more than references in wikipedia and crazy political blogs. But it is hard, blogs rank really high in google.
I dont remember Jesu...err Reagan getting flak for a teleprompter, but i was also a bit younger.
Clinton also used a teleprompter, but I guess he had bigger scandals.
Bush 2 electric boogaloo preferred note cards over teleprompters.
Does the medium that a speakers uses for their cheat sheet make them a bad person?

Thanked: 1262So which one is good and which is bad?
I mean.. Clinton and Reagan used a mixture of teleprompters and written notes.
Bush preferred the notecards.
Obama prefers Teleprompters.
So if I draw some conclusions... Teleprompter = bad, written/typed notes = good.
So..
Reagan and Clinton were quasi evil.
Bush II was a saint
Obama is the anti-christ.
OMG.. everyone was right. The only thing missing is some masonic symbols and we have a new dan brown novel.

They're all bad; cheaters never prosper
Besides, your examples are all recent US Presidents. I knew they were bad before I knew what kind of media they chose to cheat with in their speeches
In other news, stayed tuned for Obama's teleprompted speech tonight when he delivers on public television the state of the country in case you didn't already know

Yea, I wish the following quote
We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot.
...
"when Texas entered the union in 1845, it was with the understanding that it could pull out"

While it made the news the news folk are missing the boat.
The NEWS was there and what ever he said would be recorded
sliced diced taken in and out of context.
No way he was speaking to the "kids" they were just "props".
Having said this I had the opportunity to be invited to
a closed door visit with Hubert Humphrey way back when.
Impossible today but the quiet word went out to some
of the university student council. My council rep. Randy
grabbed me and we rushed over to an empty room in the
student union building. HH showed up and the doors
were closed and about 20 of us got to visit for a couple hours
no press, no teleprompter. I learned a lot. More to the
point HH was a well educated man with a grasp of an astounding
range of topics. Heck I was not old enough to vote yet
but I was old enough to have a draft number.
I still wonder what would have happened had he won.
Today the best most of us can do is attend local political
events and get to know the folk that might get to become
a national candidate or might know him or her. Politics is
getting more and more opaque.... we have to pay attention.
