Good luck telling the IRS that you're not going to pay part of your taxes because it's your right to choose where your tax dollars go. You have a right to voice your opinion and vote accordingly, but it's not a citizen's right to not pay taxes.
What do you think the insurance companies do with your money? Do you really think that whatever you contribute to insurance gets put in a piggy bank marked "59caddy"? No, if you're healthy then the money you spend on insurance now goes to pay reimbursement for other people.
Be careful with those broad strokes you're painting with.

Thanked: 259you would really be surprised to find out just how little i pay in federal taxes. i changed the amount that i pay when congress started spending on
bailouts last year.
the premium i pay does NOT go to a bunch of freeloaders. i am in a pool that only pays for the members who pay insurance premiums and that is it, not one outsider gets any of the money or benefits as it should be.
i like my broad strokes of not paying for anyone who wants to freeload off everybody else..
get a job and pay insurance premiums and get health care, real plain and simple. everyone is NOT deserving of everything equal.

I suppose your insurance rep. told you that! "No, no, sir. We're not here to make money and offset our expenses, we're only interested in your well being."
I forgot -- it's so simple to just get perfectly healthy and then take a job in an industry constantly growing and unaffected by the status of the economy. I have the solution; let's just deport any citizen who is either unemployed or has a medical history/condition classified as risky by the insurance companies!
Thanks. All this time I've thought that normal people went through hard times -- now I'll sleep happy knowing that I shouldn't care about them because they're all just lazy.

Thanked: 259PAY ATTENTION, where did i say the insurance company was not making money? if they did not make money they would not be in the business very long. it is a pool, that is what i said. we also get wellness rebates if we have not filed any claims. the premiums are based on all of the members health in the pool.
as far as the people who are out of work, i will say it once more, there are many existing programs that will cover their medical care. the main reason a lot have no care is "THEY ARE LAZY" and will not look for the programs.
i know of no one and i mean "no one" that has ever been denied care if they take the time to look for and ask for help.
i have a friend who passed away last fall from cancer. he never paid for health care insurance his entire life. he said he did not need it. when he came down with cancer, he was given some of the best care available "FREE" from ST. THOMAS medical center and VANDERBILT medical center just for the asking. again there are many programs already in force for people who have no coverage. why do we need another gov't wasteful program?
one side note, name one government program here in the states that has not overrun its projected costs and is not in financial trouble.

Thanked: 431Once we can get to rationing like many other countries, then we can get rid of many of those high risk sick people.
And of course the politicians can skim off (steal) even more money.
