I feel for Tiger. He makes more money than any athelete in endorsments (or at least top 3, talked about it in my advertising class). That is of course the big driving force of a public apology. But I can understand he has to do it for the kids. The parents of his fans should take care of it but I can understand why the guy made a public apology. Hope he can get his life together and get in touch of what was making him unhappy.

The problem is that his income depends on his public image, and that image has been trashed. Totally his own fault mind you, and I have no sympathy for him, though I feel sorry for his wife and kids.
So he's out there giving these long, grovelling apologies in an attempt to placate his sponsors and his fans that he's turned over a new leaf, learned from his mistakes and is now purer than driven snow. I think the apology to his wife and family was probably a secondary thought here, because he can make that apology in private.
But yes, I'm fed up with it. Its kept the red top tabloids in front page stories for a few weeks, as well as plenty of puns about his golf club, but now that Ashley Cole has been found to have been cheating on Cheryl, we're all far more interested in that..!
Ahh... what would we do without celebrities eh?Last edited by Stubear; 02-23-2010 at 09:37 AM.

You know what's great about living at the tail end of the world and not having a TV?
I had no idea whatsoever this was still carrying on.
But to be honest... I don't even feel bad for his wife. His kids, yes, but not his wife.
By her conduct on what little I did hear about this scandal indicates to me that she's pretty much just a gold digger, as if that's in any way surprisingly.
He's a rich athlete that people have been treating like the male Virgin Mary for a decade. He's probably banged every 110-pound woman under 30 from here to Timbuktu. I really couldn't care any less, and I really couldn't be any less surprised.
I just wish this would go away. As others have said, what the hell is this obsession with ripping celeb's personal lives apart? Seriously? Why do people care?
And that's why this is still going on, you know. Because there are lots and lots of sad people on this planet who WANT to watch this trash. If they didn't, it wouldn't be there.
And the life and times of Tiger's dick gets air time over bazillions of people being dead and dying and with nothing in Haiti. Makes me want to move to a deserted island.
Honestly, he's never going to recover his career. At least not to even half the place it was before.
Wisest thing he could do is just quit now, let the money-grubbing wife leave off with whatever, and be left with his measly half-a-billion dollars. Aww, poor fellow.
*rolls eyes*

His reputation as a golfer is intact. However, his image, carefully honed over the past decade, is forever gone. For that, he has no one to blame but himself. If it was a daliance with one woman for a period I think most people would have blown it off. But, it was much more than that so he will never be able to rebuild that image. Having said all that, I could care less about his personal travails. I do care about the fact that he was a hypocrite with his image and the message it sends to our youth (image is everything, even if it is false). Who does he think he is, a politician??
