    Default I hate parking lots

Someone smashed the driver side window on my Civic coupe to steal a GPS that has gotta be at least 5 years old and worth maybe $20. I was parked in the parking lot at the a 4 sheet arena on the campus of a community college, working as a photographer at the hockey tournament. First thought - you've gotta be kidding me.

I parked away from the building so that the actual hockey players with tons of gear would get the closer parking spots. It was reported over the loud speaker at 4 PM. I never would have thought someone would want to steal that POS. I don't even care that it's gone, I'm just ****ed about the window.

So on top of just working from 7AM till 11PM in penalty boxes, driving home without being able to see out my window, retaping the plastic (I had to do it with... you guessed it... hockey tape), eating dinner, calling the relevant parties, and now off to shower at 12:10 - on top of all that, tonight is daylight savings time and I have to take a CAB to work to be there at 7AM again tomorrow. Which is gonna feel like 6 AM. So I'll get maybe 5 hours of sleep.

The worst part is it was most likely one of the hockey kids. Do you know how expensive it is to play travel hockey? There is no way any of those kids are wanting for a GPS, especially such a POS one. It's unbelievable.

Some lady, who happened to be a customer (so I couldn't tell her off without getting fired and ruining my boss's business for the whole weekend) told me it was my fault for leaving the GPS up there. Maybe she's right, but I walked by at least 10 cars with nicer GPS's in them just getting from the building to my car, so I think that is a bunch of BS.

You know I'm really mad cause I'm still writing this instead of sleeping right now.

It sucks indeed. I'd be mad too, too mad to sleep for sure.

Maybe that lady will get hit in the face by a hockey puck tomorrow.
    Be sure to get pictures.

And to add insult to injury they are going to steal an
hour from us tonight. Rumor is that they give it back
in a couple of months but no interest.

That lady isn't right. It's just 'blame the victim'. Slightly different context, but did you ask her whether girls in 'showy' outfits deserve to be raped? Talking about parking lots: I was considering buying a bit of a nicer car, but the image that it'll get dented by some dumb cow manhandling her purse, frappucino and lipstick while throwing open the door on the first day is just too real to me.

In the UK theft from cars is a major problem. Many years ago it was car radios. Design changed and radios became integrated with dashboards. Now it's GPS units. It's so bad in many places that there are signs by the side of most roads in urban areas warning you to take GPS units with you when you park. The other must have for the GPS owner is a damp wash leather, to wipe off the tell-tale mark that the windscreen sucker leaves, a sign to the thief that there could be a GPS in the glove-box or boot (trunk).

That really sucks. I hope after you get some sleep you'll feel better. Park in the front next time. Let the kids carry their stuff.
