It was not I who was insulted and I doubt the intended victim of your insult will ever see it. Let me ask you though. what if I should call you "Slob Phinkaid" instead of Bob? Wouldn't I be throwing insults at you? You may not get insulted but I would still be "hurling insults". I do believe that gentlemen do not engage in hurling such childish insults no matter how different their thoughts on politics are.

Correct...discussion is about presenting your thoughts and if challenged, debating them, if you care too, or letting it go if you don't want to be bothered.
Not being a Fox-Fan, so to speak, I would still discount the thoughts of anyone who who tried dismissing or discrediting slogans in the absence of facts...like Faux News or saying, Fox definitely lies more than the other networks...it seems more like throwing something against the wall and hoping it will stick. A word that comes to mind is slander...resorted to in frustration when absent sustenance to the position taken...
What I have noted in difference between these news sources is it seems to me that those other than Fox are more processed, production oriented and concocted...almost as though presenting the news in a way that follows the agenda, (whatever it may be)....Fox though it can fairly be stated that it appears to have a conservative bend...my impression has always been that they debate...welcome debate and ask questions that some are not particularly comfortable with...I saw an interview with President Obama and a commentator of Fox about two weeks ago, and it appeared to me that the President waffled on some pretty fair/logical questions and finally, exerted the authority of his office to avoid answering the question(s)...
I'm not saying that Fox is buttered bread, but, I do think that most of the negative is based in unsubtantiated accusations, slogans and plays on the name brand...pretty weak and this would point to the fact that they make a lot of people in Washington uncomfortable...so, how bad can they be?Last edited by hardblues; 04-05-2010 at 07:00 AM.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Our basic cable package does not include CNN or Fox. We do get ABC, CBS NBC and PBS. I'm talking the very BASIC package.

Those aren't even cable stations. If all you get are your local networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) you could save a lot of money with a roof antenna and a Digital converter box (assuming you have an older TV since it isn't a priority for you).
Every basic cable package I've ever seen has CNN, ESPN, USA, TNT, and others. If you are going to pay for TV you should at least get something that isn't floating on the airwaves for free.
If you have COmcast cable you also have MSNBc and CNBC as Comcast has a controlling interest in NBC networks. They being the nearest cable provider to my house (rural area so I get satellite TV) offer 9 news channels in their most basic package only 2 of which (FOX News, and FOX Business) are FOX.
One thing that hasn't been debate yet is why FOX News was created. It is the Newest of the cable news networks and was created by a company that has had a knack for seeing the gaps it could fill in the marketplace and jumping into them with great results for its bottom line.Last edited by Wildtim; 04-05-2010 at 01:25 PM.
