Job hours
If you work full-time salary, how many hours on average do you work? Curious.

I guess I probably average about 45 - 50 at the moment. My company is pretty bad at giving you slack elsewhere, though my boss is pretty good. So as long as I run stuff through him, I'm usually good to go...! If I go above him though...
Back when I was studying (CIMA), I had a row with one of the VP's because she was making comments about me leaving "early" (It was half five btw...) to go to class. This at a time when I was getting into the office at 7.30 to make sure I had enough time to get my work done and go to class, which was two nights a week and all day Saturday.
In the end I told her that I was still working when I left to go to class, it just wasnt at my desk, and that she could judge the quality of that work on my exam results. Fortunately I passed both exams and then promptly moved out of her department..!

40, it's in my contract and anything more than that the customers don't like because then they'd have to pay for overtime.

In tattoo shops long hours are the rule rather than the exception. For years I worked 10 to 12 hours 6 days a week. The shop I've been in for the last 15 years used to be open noon to midnight but we've cut the hours down since we're all getting old. Now I work 4 days a week for 9 hours on three of the days and 11 hours on Saturday. I've worked every Sunday for the last 20 years in every shop I've worked in.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Contracted hours per week: 35. But I usually rack up another 10 on top. It takes me 4 hours per day commuting to and from work, so you can usually find me sitting on the train, laptop out, 3G stick connected, doing almost the same thing as if I was at my desk. 10 years ago that would not have been possible.
