I spent two years active duty in the navy during the Vietnam war on board a Guided Missile Destroyer Escort. I was an E-4 radarman.

I was in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. Like the old song says, "I joined the Navy to see the world," and in those four years I saw plenty of it as an E-5 photo-journalist. During those years I visited nearly every South American country during Operation UNITAS; did a tour of the antarctic with Operation Deep Freeze, and finished with a Mediterranean cruise aboard the USS Forrestal. I use the Deep Freeze logo as my avatar.
