20+ years behind and i still do not know what i'm going to be when i grow up.
I was about 10 years in the army , first at Coastal Jaegers, then at Guards Jaegers and finally i got a transfer into my home town regiment. Through the years i've been in command in Lebanon, former Yugoslavia and Tschad.
Then my regiment got redeployed away from my home town so i asked and got a transfer in the navy with my ranks. Started at Naval Infantry (ATU), then spent few years at the Naval Academy and studied to be a ship engine technician. Now i serve at the ship at engine team.
Our rank system is a bit different than in U.S but i am sergeant master class.
Still 9 years to go before retirement and freedom'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

Loved every damn second of it. Everything I ever thought about civilians and their attitudes about work, etc. turns out to be not far off the mark. Nearly five years into retirement, I think I'm adjusting but I still miss the environment of the military, the comradery and the ability to trust that if someone says it will be done or they will be there, that it's so.The older I get, the better I was

I was in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. Like the old song says, "I joined the Navy to see the world," and in those four years I saw plenty of it as an E-5 photo-journalist. During those years I visited nearly every South American country during Operation UNITAS; did a tour of the antarctic with Operation Deep Freeze, and finished with a Mediterranean cruise aboard the USS Forrestal. I use the Deep Freeze logo as my avatar.
