You're absolutely right, Tony. I guess I just assumed people gave the seller a chance to make it right if they were unhappy, before posting something negative. I do, and I assumed everybody else did, too. I shoulda remembered what happens when you ass/u/me. So to modify my original statement, a buyer has 3 things to do.

I don't know why "Sue" would care that you didn't respond right away. She says she got the product and was just as described with fast shipping.. so who cares when you respond. What a jerk

    RichZ,

I care when I have purchased goods (some quite expensive), paid immediately, 'always'; and do not receive feedback for that payment. I have 100% of 237 from buying and selling. About 15% of my purchases have not been responded to by the seller and I still leave positive feedback for that seller as soon as I receive my purchase. I just don't buy from them again.

In an atmosphere based on feedback, the seller & the buyer both require positive feedback to successfully buy or sell of which I do both. My obligation as a buyer is to pay the seller, 'only'. Feedback for payment should follow. The seller is obligated to fulfill the listing as described. If I receive a defective item from the seller, it doesn't negate the fact that the seller has my money. A cordial email will usually resolve the problem.

Oh, BTW, I see you've called me a "Jerk"?

    Sue,

Sorry you ddn't get my sarcasm for what it was meant. It is important for people to get their communication on there purchases and sales on a timely basis.

Although I must admit I have been slow in sending a response at times, if I as a buyer wanted to look over the item more carefully. As for a seller I guess he just didn't have the time. I will say that if I was to receive your response about the hostage I don't know that it would make me jump to respond positively though. I don't know how long you waited but maybe a touch more tolerence might work in this case.

I am confused easily and this thread has really done a number on the limited amount of common sense I feel that I still retain at my age... The feedback forum is one of the driving aspects of what makes ebay what it is, and from my standpoint, I love it. Keeps ya'll honest and sexy and all that.....

I leave feedback about 2 x a week, basically on my shipping days. As far as I am concerned if someone buys something and pays for it immediately they are now my friend forever.... all that is left is for me to honor the obligation that I began in the first place by listing an item for sale. I don't hold my feedback hostage and I don't hold much back as a rule of life anyway...lol But when I get payment before I even get an offer, then that person is tops in my book and my feedback will convey that. There are a myriad of problems that can occur after that point, but I consider any of those to me mine alone. I will do what it takes to fix a problem and I will do what it takes to keep my customer happy, after all this person is taking a gamble on me....

Yea feedback is important to get, but lord people, it is a self gratification thing... I already have that due to the products that I make and sell and the attitiude that I will take care of my customer at all costs. Period.

Now for anyone who feels they can take advantage... let me introduce you to my dog Nightmare.......lol

I will ALWAYS do whatever it takes as a seller to take care of you the consuerm.... communication is key. If there is a problem and you don't communicate... well, then it is on you....

    Mama Bear

    Mama,
I agree with what you say and do business pretty much the same way. I don't think I have had an unhappy customer if given half a chance to fix things if gone wrong. hell, the few times a fellow didn't like my product or changed his mind after trying it I gave a full refund and let him keep it anyway.

If people want to rewqard sellers for fast feedback that is great. If someone pays the day I am catching up and leaving feedback they will get a fast positive too. I just can't be ready to do it every day to stay ahead of them .

My only issue with Sue's post is making the assumption we are holding it hostage. Some do I agree and made a point why, others though, many others simply sit down once or twice a week and leave feedback so inthat case who leaves it first has nothing to do with trust, just a persons schedule.

I just get bothered when people automatically assume the worst case....hostage .

a lot of people i've bought stuff from either send you messages in emails or in their auction that you should leave feedback first and then they will return it. they are definitely keeping it 'hostage' and are upfront about it.

    Joseph,
It is really a shame that people work that way. Smooth or rocky deal I always leave good feedback unless I truly got screwed.

I do understand your and Sue's point.

On an interesteing ebay note I ws recently sold a knockoff Barbour jacket. The seller refused a refund. I went through Paypal fraud dispute and was required to provide proof of it being a fake by sending it to the manufacturer for verification. Not only did they proclaim it a fake they sent me a brand new replacement so they could keep the knockoff to use as evidence to prosecute the knockoff artist!

The original seller will get one of the few negatives I have ever left.....and by the way he has not yet left me a feedback rating. I can be sure it will be a retaliatory negative but hey, [eople need to know about this sort of thing.

I just came across a truly honest seller: jeanirener. She left feedback within hours of receiving my payment. As soon as this baby arrives http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6619544993 she's getting the agreed upon caption in the feedback.
