Maybe that was why so few of us were obese back then. We had to exercise to get our television entertainment.

Talking Ahh yes the controls !

Wow that's funny you guys.I almost forgot all the knob tweaking etc. myself.Remember when remote controls first came out and they were all klunky and medieval looking. They looked more like garage remotes. and when you pressed a button it made a loud clicking noise like a stapler.

Manimal, Night Hawk, Airwolf, Hill Street Blues, The Night Stalker(scared me s&%$less), and I watched F Troop although it might have been reruns...'75 here, but I do remember the knobs and rabbit ears. I lived in the deep woods of Ohio indian country back then!

I was an 80s child but we had a B&W two-knob tv. Well, two knobs for vertical and horizontal adjustment, and another for volume. Then of course the big channel dial. Juggling between those and poor reception was the pits, especially during tornado season when it was a bonus to get a clear picture.

My only tv now has rabbit ears - an advanced version but it's still an ugly antenna

I still remember the chill from hearin the Night Stalker them. Horror flicks back in those days were so much better because so much more was left to the mind. Remember how Carl would whistle just before the scary music part(yeeesh). This has been an awesome thread ! ......Mom ! Can I stay up and watch night gallery pleeeeaaase !??

Ah yes! Carl Kolchak, the perfect hero for the Everyman! I always thought Darren McGavin was an excellent actor; great as the "old man" in "A Christmas Story." I can still see him running away from some monster in that goofy white suit of his, desperately trying to hold on to his little camera and tape recorder. Now I'll have to purchase the DVD.

My favorite radio shows were The Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, Superman, Amos & Andy and Groucho Marx, all of which ended up as TV shows.
