Working as a dishwasher in a restaurant in my university years, the cooks would often ask me if they could make me anything to eat. I was quite the spicy freek at the time and asked for a super hot chicken burger. Well the cook did his thing and the heat wasn't nearly as hot as I was hoping for. The cook was very surprised. The next time he asked if he could kick the heat up a notch and I said do your worst. Well it was the first time I haven't been able to finish a spicy food dish. And boy was I regretting it the following day as it cauterized my digestive track.

Now I still like it hot but not that hot. Curry, cayenne pepper, habanero, even plain old black pepper, it's all good. My favourite is Franks Red Hot. Tastes great.
