Reminds me of when cell phones didn't exist or were very rare. Not being able to reach people when they were out of the house? WHAT!? Using a pay phone bank at some landmark while on vacation?

The new stuff is great but I always think about when I was younger and people weren't in such a hurry and impolite all of the time. (at least not that I remember) everything is instant now

Why back in the day if you needed help honing you had to send a telegram to the local hone misterdoo. None of these fancy internet forum whatchamacallits around.

You kids and your synthetic honies, spray this and paste that. We honed with whatever was sitting around or stolen, and we liked it!

/I just find it humorous that people go on an internet message board to complain about technology.

You can't Google, MSN maps, MapQuest, whatever the directions to my house. It's a "new" neighborhood (translated ~3 years old) and only one street into the neighborhood shows up on some maps. Typically, if you search for my address, for some idiotic reason it will find the same street and street number about 200 miles away in Pensacola, Florida and try to send you there.

I get tickled when people ignore my comments that you'll not find it on the internet and think

and don't write the down directions I give them. Funny how they call me later and say "now how is that exactly that I get to your house?"

I guess that's one good reason for me not to move south!

So where does that leave us now: 1 reason "against", 50 reasons "for"??

I still write things down on an almost daily basis. Can't really beat a good notebook and pen, if you ask me.

...and this coming from a software engineer.

I Google directions and the like.

I write notes, like numbers, with a pen.

I've got to write everything down...how I do it (pen.paper.blackberry.calendar) doesn't matter. Swiss cheese does not describe my short term memory. A better and more fitting description would be "moth eaten fabric".

If I don't write it down or record it.....it doesn't exist or happen!
