Personally I do not see the humor or pleasure in it. When I was 17/18 probably would have made my life (IMO at the time). However 26 or so years later. I feel for the girl a little. SR Prom is a 1 time thing, unlike most other events. Hell even a majority of the population has more Weddings than proms. It will now fall short of her dream.
You write in your post about karma, Ask yourself even if you had no interest in getting back with her long term (which I agree with) if you were to gentleman up, and go to the prom with her recognizing that you are doing it to help her. What does that do for your karma, conversely finding humor in another person loss/failure/sadness/Error (Whatever you want to call it) and sharing on the internet what does that do to the what goes around comes around theory.
We all (me included) like to speak of karma when we see someone that we are not fond of get a swift kick in the taco. But in reality to truly want to live the what goes around comes around We should probably reach down and help pick them up after getting their nuts rattled.
