I think Jerry Closer said it best when he said that most people today are educated far beyond their intelligence.
It does seem sometimes that the dumbest quotes come from some of the most educated people.

I think younger generations just aren't taught the same stuff as older generations. I work with some young guys and some of them don't know who fought in the american revolution. There are some things I think everyone should know. But when I think about it the movie Idiocracy comes to mind (great movie by the way)

You have to be 35 to be president, so that means born at least before ~1978ish. Our youngest president was 43, so that would make JFK be born in 1967 if he were president today. That is hardly the "current" generation. Need I remind you, the current average age of a US congressman is 58.2 years old, which makes them born in 1953, which means the average congress man can vividly remember the lunar landing. No, it certainly is not this generation, the generation of the Mars landing, that is running the show. Yet.

People have always been stupid, ignorance is nothing new...it's just that as you get older, you are forced more and more to interact with people outside your own "circle", meaning people who don't know what you know, so you are faced with it more directly. The reality is the same, the exposure is increased, so your perception is altered. Kind of like crime--violent crime rates have decreased steadily since 1991 (and were pretty steady before then) but if you ask people they will always say things are only getting worse.
I would actually argue that people now are smarter than they ever have been, in average terms, but the idiots have more volume than they used to.
Ouch... Or were you trying to be ironic?

Thanked: 69and not a sh*t was given in my household.... lol.. *(just kidding a bit).......
but you hammer home a point....... my 17yr old son and i just tonight had a conversation about "music".... he told me his favorite band was this.........
after listening to this musical abortion i pointed out it was a poor mans rendition of the clash/metalica/papa roach/any punk band......... and that imho it sucked more metric tonnage of ass than had ever been sucked in recent history.... in fact i told him if his music sucked any more the internet along with the rest of us would collapse into a black hole of suckiness......
i got a blank stare............ sigh......

The irony is today's musicians are obviously listening to & sampling old school. Same as when the Beatles copied Chuck Berry or Eric Clapton copied Freddie King etc etc. Nothing changes , just our perception.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I work for a small business(2 actually) and it is all family aside from myself...my boss, her 2 daughters, and 2 nieces. Plus I see parents and children coming in all day to pick up and place their orders...I notice there is a big spare the rod spoil the child thing going on. Children don't seem to have to learn as much because of technology and the parents who coddle the bad behavior
