Hope it goes well for him.

When the perform a surgery on a person and the area they need to get to is covered in hair they shave them, right? Tell him to bring his soap and brush (if his back is hairy)

Going under the knife is always stressful.... Back surgery eh' ... Easy or tricky it would still make me nervous.

I wish him the best and a speedy recovery!

Just once I'd like to see a thread about someone going in for "amusing" surgery or "quirky" surgery. Serious surgery is no fun. Heal well and get back to doing what you love soon.

Thanks for letting us know C'runner. Prayers for skillful surgeon and rapid recovery start now. If you hear any further, perhaps let us know.

    Cuda,
Thanks for the thread, as Naymond has already been on my prayer list.
    Nervin,
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and guide the hands of the surgeon, and ease the extraction of that screw.

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

I also work in major spine surgery every day, and want to echo what pixelfixed said. Despite poorly placed screws, the chances of paralysis are fairly remote with the exception of trauma. Surgeons have to do a good job of managing expectations, and it necessitates sharing uncomfortable possibilities no matter how remote. I'm wishing him the best
