Default Bar Soap Vs. Body Wash

Gentlemen, I ordinarily would not spend time discussing one's grooming habits, but since we all are members of shaving forum, I figure I would ask for your thoughts and opinions. But first, let me say I condiser myself an old fashion type of guy, I believe in manners, saying "please and thank-you," opening doors for ladies, a large percentage of us shave with straight razors, heck I even asked my in-laws for permission to marry their daughter. Old fashion yes I am. Today SWMBO mentioned I might like a particular brand of body wash. Body wash!?!?!?!? I am sorry , but I prefer a good old fashion bar of soap and a wash cloth. Any thoughts?

I alternate, bar soap when I shower at work and body wash when at home. I find bar soap usually lasts longer IMO.

I always use a bar of soap myself.
The rest of the family uses some runny stuff, and that leaves the bar of soap as my very own
I recently got some bars from Martin de Candre, and let me just say, I will not be switching anytime soon!

I am partial to old spice body wash scents, but i also use soaps. I tend to alternate between the two. However I am also pretty sure that bar soap lasts longer as you have to squeeze out quite a bit of body wash gel to get the job done.

Any good soap/body wash recommendations from fellow forum members?

I'll take a quality bar soap any day to those yuppie washes. They be for those young whippersnappers.

I hate those body washes. It's that conditioner that get left on the skin after you rinse. I feel oiler and slimier getting out of the shower than when I got in. Yuck!

I prefer a bar of soap, myself. I feel I waste less, and I find it much easier to use, as well.

Funny I was just thinking about this exact topic just the other day...
The wife bought me some Old Spice Komodo body wash and I must admit that it does work pretty easy and smells fantastic but jeez what a waste... Seems I either use way to much or way to little.. Now I admit I like those Poof thingy's better then using a washcloth but dang with a bar of soap it just seems way easier to get the right amount of suds.
I think I will stick with my bar of Dial or Irish Spring

Now I will admit that the body wash is much neater around the shower no broken pieces or little bits of the end of the bar hanging around the shower or tub and no soap scum from where I forget to put the soap in the dish ...

I use a body wash called Miracle Soap,(dont ask why the name, I have no idea). I have been using it for several years. A little goes a very long way, I can wash my hair(what little I have), my skin and it even makes a decent lather for a shave in a pinch. What I love about it is that it leaves no dry, slimy, smelly, sticky residue like other soaps. When I rinse it off I feel .... clean, and nothing but clean,
