In Thailand when parking on the side of the road we parallel park. But in shopping centers everyone reverses into 90 degree parking spaces. When they are all full (they get full awfully quickly) people just parallel park infront of those cars. It is common courtesy here to leave your car in neutral, the parking brake off, and the front wheels straight ahead, so that the person you have boxed in can get out and push your car out of the way. On busy days you can have two rows of cars parallel parked infront of your car and you, with the help of a security guard, will have to push twelve cars out of the way before you can drive away.

Times like that is when you want a big old Toyota Landcruiser with a tow bar, steel rear step/bumper, side bars, rock sliders/sidesteps and a steel bullbar. That way the only thing that happens to you is that you might have to scrape their paint off your steel work...Which reminds me I have to polish someone elses paint off my sidestep/rocksliders on the Landcruiser sometime too.

One of my employees, once, years ago tried that with me. I grabbed my forklift and parked his car on the roof of my building. No one has tried that again. I have also called my friends and have had other cars towed quickly for stupid moves like that.

Dylan, just take solace in the fact that it isn't a green kia (if my memory works).

Sorry man. I just don't see the problem. And over here anyone that would have problems with that.....I'd not view as a very good driver.

In the UK we we don't have that much space for parking. Over here, if you got wound up every time somebody parked too close to your bumper after about a month you would be in need of psychiatric help.

That is why you have a steering wheel and reverse gear. Use them. Here parking places are small so i do not see any problem with this.

Even if yours is the front car, I don't see the problem.
Turn the wheels to the left, and simply drive out. Possibly doing a back-and-forth to gain the necessary clearance. No?

Again, the problem was not that I couldn't get out, but that, even with several feet behind him, the car chose to park over the line marking the front of his spot. If you look at the photo, the back of the black car's spot is just under the car parked behind him.

Not to be a pain in the a$$ here but...
If you had parked centered in your spot you shouldn't have had a problem just pulling out. Thats still no excuse for buddy to have parked so close to you...but its kind of a chain reaction in the picture.
