I see my self as being somewhere on the conservative/libertarian line, I like the "All things considered" show when I get a chance to listen to it. The biggest problem with "the news" is there isnt any... a bunch of calculated emotional sound bites without depth or meaning, meant to divide the populace, the sad part is that if there were real news programming who would listen in a society where almost everyone believes that "somebody ought to do something" without realizing they are the somebody who ought to. They know the trash needs to be taken out and the toilet cleaned, but they would rather bitch and moan and live in the stench than to get off their butts and be the "somebody".

Amen. Douglas Adams got it right when he came up with SEP. Someone Else's Problem. We are an SEP society.

NPR isnt "flamingly liberal". Keith Oberman is "flamingly liberal" NPR might err on political correct side some, which I dont care for, but I think in their case its more out of etiquette. They certainly don't have an agenda where the news readers are told to refer to programs that arent approved of by the management in a certain way, like other stations I could name. (Death tax, Class warfare for taxing millionaires, ect). NPR definitely tries to maintain journalistic integrity, also, which is something that is increasingly rare in modern news stations. Frankly I've often wondered if this "NPR is horribly liberally biased" thing (which was stated by Rush Limbaugh, you know-- a paragon of wisdom, insight and integrity) is a trick to keep people away from one of the few sources of real information out there.

Well, as far as the Ron Schiller dust-up, the sadly under-reported part is that much of what he says on the highly edited tape is taken out of context. Here's a brief discussion of it (FAIR Blog » Blog Archive » O'Keefe's Bogus NPR Sting Lives On ) and here's a longer discussion of the entire interview (Does Raw Video of NPR Expose Reveal Questionable Editing & Tactics? | TheBlaze.com ). That second link is to Glen Beck's news blog there, so you see, the story is a lot less than was originally reported.

Your second link is simply an article about the media critic from the Post who feels that NPR is liberal. That's actually opinion, and he has a right to it, but I don't see as that's real news, it's editorial.

The third link, well, I'll have to get back to you on that because I've got to make dinner, but I'm listening to the O'Reilly interview at this moment.

That doesn't really ever work. Look at Jimmy the Greek, Mel Gibson, and even Jessie Jason (remember how "Hymietown" wrecked his presidential bid way back when?)
