Could it be that Americans have been indoctrinated to spend thousands of dollars on purely cosmetic and unnecessary dental procedures?
Point being, you're arguing about a "statistic" which neither of you has proffered up data to support. This thread is going nowhere fast, borders on insulting whole nationalities, and if it continues as a whizzing contest it'll be closed. Period.

Thanked: 18You know what matters about dental health? Cavities. Can you guess who has the fewest number of decayed, missing or filled teeth in twelve year olds on average in all OECD countries? That's right, the UK. If you like, you can double-check that pretty graph at the OECD's online statistics database. That database has all kinds of different statistics ranging from mortality rates to general economic data you can select from and compare different countries to each other.

If you live along the Southern U.S Border many go to Mexico for dental work. Many of the dentists are U.S trained and actually cater to Americans and of course the prices are way lower. As far as Canadians coming to the U.S for medical treatment the fact is the U.S has the best most advanced medical care in the world for the few who can afford it. Most who come here from around the world are those who can afford it.

Mr. TLAR, I apologize for making it personal. I am rarely asked if the cat's got my tongue meowdays. Just pawing at the participants in this thread makes me feel like I've lost another of my nine lives. You could say I was saved by a whisker from curiosity killing the cat, which is now out of the bag by the way - well, it's both in the bag and out of the bag until you observe it. That's neither here nor there - speaking of here and there though, there once was a man from St Ives......

Thanked: 94so what if I believe in God, Smaller government, more state self reliance, less people in my pockets, the constitution, equal rights for everyone, and generally believe the government has no right to spend more money than it brings in with out a populous vote....am I a hate filled conservative nut job? or am I a fan of the founding fathers...
no one here has the right to pass judgement on anyone else. Fighting on here is basically pointless. People want to hear what they want to hear, facts be damned.
I can not wait to see what November brings.

Thanked: 995I disagree, that was Shrodinger...
I really love arguments that fall back on "what the founding fathers would do....". They disagreed about this stuff as much as people do now. The most amazing result was the republic they did compromise upon. That's history, we now have a democracy and the voters have been bought and paid for....“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power.” R.G.Ingersoll

Every day I am more and more convinced that the main difference between smart people and stupid people is that stupid people have all the answers.
