Thanked: 884If it was left up to me, they'd be FULL auto and NO restrictions.
The wheat would separate from the chaff pretty damned quick.
I look at firearms as equalizers. An 80 year old man with a firearm is equal to a young kid. A 90 lb girl with a firearm is equal to a 250 lb would be rapist.
As disgusting and sad as the deal pulled off by that POS in Colorado is, there are still more people killed in car wrecks every day. You gonna get rid of cars because they KILL PEOPLE? Appears to me that if MORE people had been carrying that night, the kid with the rifle wouldn't have made near as big a splash.
On a side note, with the proliferation of CCW licenses in this country, the latest FBI crime statistics show a marked decrease in crimes against people in the states that allow it. Go figure.

Thanked: 485I'd have SOME sort of a chance against a machette. I can't protect myself at all against a gun being fired at me from afar. And I still ask the same question; how many of those people in the theatre were shooting back, do you think...I haven't even read the whole story, and maybe there WAS some sort of battle. I don't hear about it though. I don't hear about kids in schools entering into a gun battle to protect themselves. I don't live in your country, only you know if having a gun REALLY protects you, only you know how many instances of protecting oneself with a gun exist. I do apologise for my ignorance. I actually LIKE guns, I've always liked firing guns the first time I fired my first gun, a 7.62 SLR. I'd l'd to blatt off a few rounds, but I can do without it when I compare it to the mass murders we used to have to suffer with.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

All you need to make a high power explosive is bleach and petrol jelly. As stated in another post, I will go crazy if I can't buy either of those things because it is POSSIBLE to make a bomb with them. For this same reason, they could take away stump remover. Can be used to make a smoke bomb, or a very large firecracker. trust me, I have done it.

Thanked: 485Yeah? Do you get searched? As an ignorant outsider I'm curious to know if the average citizen DOES get the chance to protect themselves often. I sort of visualise a mexican standoff situation all the time, or going to answer the door and thinking "shit, I left the M60 in the toilet..."
It's all very sad anyway, and that's my last comment...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
