Working at a club on Hampden Ave. called Knicks many of our Denver members might remember it we had a contest going which of course during the early 80's involved hot Gals strutting around in Bikinies It was to choose "Miss Wrangler Jeans"

The hottest Gal of the finals was by a wide margin was by coincidence named Mickey, so as the contest wound down to the final selection I queued two songs for the outcome, one I will never remember, the other was set right at the spot of "Oh Mickey, yer so fine yer so fine, your so fine you blow my mind" When they announced the winner I slip queued the record, which I thought was pretty cool, so did the crowd...
My boss however thought it looked like the contest was rigged

I mean anyone with eyes could see she was going to win, the crowd went nutz as soon as she came out in a Bikini mother nature was very kind with her gifts...

Wait, did I happen to mention that I was kinda seeing her at the time and my Boss wanted to be "seeing" her God the 80's was a great decade in the Club Biz, Much of it is still a blur

The longest running Dance Contest I can remember in 25 years we did 8 different versions of the "Flashdance Contest"

I was in Denver from 81-85 at Knicks, Mardi Gras, Masquerade, Proof of the Pudding, Denver Denver,
Then was hired and moved to Colorado Springs at Grahams and Steamers until 87 when I left the booth and became a Gen. Manager.

Knicks was actually one of the first "Video" dance clubs in the country we were runing Vids with VHS in 1/2 in and 3/4 in decks, actually had a VJ working with me to get the Vids on the screens.. The sound quality was so bad on the Tapes that we would start the vid and I would have to mix in the record behind it to boost the quality... LOL

This was one of the first Vids we had, so the owners wanted me to play it quite often, (DJ's hate repeating songs) I still to this day hate this song
