Though if I may be so bold - I think Eddie Grant's late 70's stuff was way better

I guess Duran Duran was inevitable, but I never would have guessed gssixgun would be the one!

Here's some for other folks like me who never got into the mainstream pop of the 80s, and didn't really buy into the big hair banger bands (will all due respect to the insanity that was Twisted Sister!)

The Smiths with my all-time favourite song about plagiarism. Not hard to spot the ex-history prof, eh?

The only band that matters: The Clash (RIP Joe). There are some tracks where the drummer deserves a medal. I think this is one.

Killerwhaletank UH! Killerwhaletank UH! Ladies and Gentlemen, the Tragically Hip (not an 80s performance, but an 80s song)

Some more CanCon. This one's dedicated to our own mapleleafalumnus:

Usually in-studio TV performances are lame and without any oomph.

    This had OOMPH.

And because you can't talk about women and 80s rock without Joan Jett (and because her bass player once emailed me to very nicely ask for a copy of my thesis - it's a funny old world):
