Today I realized that I'm a total Olympic junkie. I found myself watching rythmic gymnastics AND enjoying it.

I've really enjoyed watching those traditional Olympic sports you just don't get to see very often on mainstream television - tennis, basketball, and soccer (sorry, football). Next they'll introduce car racing...

But I don't want to come across as a disgruntled middle-aged man. I've really enjoyed watching the coverage the IOC has mandated the TV network is allowed to show based on the amount of money the contract specifies and the sponsors agree on. Did you ever think you'd see the day? "This Olympics, proudly brought to you by MacDonalds! MacDonalds - nutritional specialist of the modern Olympian"

It's hard not to see the whole thing as just an episode of the Simpsons....

I like a lot of the racing as fast as an athlete can go events. Ie, Swimming Running etc. But my favorite event is easily the Medal count at the end of it all.

I realized during these games that the US is the only country that sorts the medal standings by total medals won. The rest of the world, including the IOC, sorts by gold medals.

Luckily here Olympics come from national public service channels. No ads.
