Thread: Road pics

While I'm at it, when I went to the Grand Canyon this guy was stopping my car from getting through the road. Got a pic of him after he moved. Beautiful dirt road drive to the West wing of the canyon

and my wife is headed over to Brissie to spend the weekend on a houseboat ?!

Waterproof point & shoot cameras are great. I have a Sony TX5 and can highly recommend it. It's been caving and swimming with no problems. Great hand-held low-light shots, amazing macro down to about 5mm.

Anyway.... ROAD PICS
Was driving away from hospital last night when I noticed another ambulance pulled over on the side of the motorway. Not an unusual sight going to hospital as sometimes patient care requires a stationary vehicle but this was headed in the wrong direction. Concerned for my colleagues I pulled over to check if they were OK.
When I saw who was driving (a mad keen photographer) I realised why they had stopped and took full advantage of the position to follow suit...

Cruising around out by the Feather River today. Kinda odd out there with all the trees dormant. Saw some quail, but they didn't hang around long enough to be photographed. I did see some colorful bee hives and took a "normal" river level pic to compare with a "high" level pic from January 2nd, of 2006. Later gang!!

The wife took the opportunity to have a look down the waterfront after the weather had calmed down somewhat This is just one street over from us and really very calm compared to the day before when I was out in it. Further down, and indeed, all around the area trees are down and damage and debris is strewn everywhere. In this area the houses (unlike ours one street back ) go for over a million dollars. I wonder what these people were thingking of their million dollar views during this!

Hey Mick. There's an AD on TV at the moment for a paint company. They show a whole bunch of life saving clubs, and say something like 'to preserve the building you need to use a good paint' (the brand that's being advertised of course). the other day I saw the AD and thought "Those buildings need a bit more than a coat of paint considering the rising sea levels". That was before the floods.

Recommendation is you buy a tin of paint or two. I love the coast but I wouldn't live there unless sit was on a pretty high hill, but in a valley, un-wooded (or lightly wooded) and not on a fault line...

Oh, also I hear it's probably wise to stock up on sugar...

I'm being flippant, I know, but it is my way...

Good paint is hard to find mate. We just repainted our place a year ago, and after all the weather we've just had, it has all gone to sh!t. Bubbling and lifting etc. But what are ya gonna do?! That's how it is, and you just get on and sort it out...Eventually. I won't concern myself with the unavoidable. No point.

So that explains all the foam....

I saw one that had swallowed a car. The bloke just appeared out of nowhere (well, if you include about 7' of foam as nowhere), right in front of a pair of coppers and just in front of and alongside a bus. I'll see if I can find it on the 'tube.
