I found this in the hallway closet. Dad's camera, I guess. Never remember ever seeing it used. It's like brand new, still in the box and with all the paperwork. My parents, were some of those like them that I have met over the years, were children of the Great Depression. Those of that era, never threw anything away, and kept their stuff nice. I have no idea if one could find film that would work in this thing. It would be cool if I could snap a photograph or two, but I'm just as happy to give it a good home.

Thanked: 983You would have to modify it to take 120 roll film these days. I wouldn't though. Just keep it beautiful and display it.

Today's road trip, California Gold Rush tour, well, a little bit of it anyway. With my son and dog, we made a loop from the valley up the hills a ways and back. First stop was Timbuctoo Ca, found a woodpecker. Then on to Smartsville, old church there, Englebright Reservoir and then found some geese hanging out at the Lake Wildwood spillway. Then Bridgeport Ca, the longest single span wood covered bridge in the US, old gas station there as well.

The rest of the loop! A random canyon pic, then the Wells Fargo building in French Corral. North San Juan Ca, I like the selection at Toki's. Then Bullards Bar Dam, kinda hard to get a picture of how tall the dam thing is, pretty mountain lake there. Last but not least, an old spray rig in the foothills, and me trying to get enough nicotine for the trip! If some of you are wondering if all I have to do is drive around and take pictures, well, you're spot on!!

The Gulf of Mexico can be quite serene at times .... This one is from platform VR245F just south of Abbeville, LA about 85 miles offshore. Sunset.

Khor Al Udaid
Not really road pics, there are none of those in this area.
It is in the south of the Qatar Peninsula, on the border with Saudi Arabia (just under an hour's drive from where I live). Uninhabited during the summer months, but this time of year camps spring up (October-March). During this time we spend every weekend there.
At around 15:30 Hrs, the local youths assemble at the first of around 4 locations. These locations have very large sand dunes that have been hollowed out by the wind. They take turns in making runs across the dune, there is a minimum speed below which the car will roll sideways down the dune. Kudos is earned for speed, flamboyance and time spent airborne.
Somewhat spontaneously every one jumps in the cars and head for one of the other dunes, some 300 or so vehicles (mainly Nissan patrols, Toyota Landcruisers as well as buggies and some purpose built sand Rails) generally, complete mayhem.
This whole process is repeated until final prayer time, then back to camp for Shisha.

Thanked: 983That would bring out the Australian Country Boy half of me. I could get into mayhem like that with absolutely no concern for life and limb, and be laughing all the way. I would want to do it in a Landcruiser trayback (Ute) though and chuck in a bit of circle work while I was at it!
