The throttle is on the left hand side. It is the same bike. I prefer the blue that they came in but wanted to keep it "original" within reason. It is not a "perfect original" concourse type restore but unless you are a judge you probably can't tell so that is good enough for me. I was going to keep it black but found the original Indian Red underneath. Even in the Indian community there are arguments about the proper color! It is a modern Cranberry #??? that I have down somewhere but can't remember at the moment.
I had an oil tank cap engraved in memory of my Uncle. The oil tank is in the front section of the right tank. As an experiment and since there is no oil temp gauge I took another and drilled a hole in it to insert a meat thermometer through it into the oil. I have won a few trophies at local shows. My favorite is the peoples choice at one that I left the thermometer in. I tell people that if it gets to Beef Rare I better start worrying.
I also have a picture of my uncle at the welcome to Alaska sign on the AlCan highway. Around 1961 when he was 17 or so. The most that I have ridden it is 300 miles in a day.

I went for a cruise today and ended up out by the Sacramento River. I took a couple pictures with my phone. This is about the closest we have to "jungle" around here. The wild grape vines cover everything and other than deer trails, you can't get through it. I think we need to import some Kookaburras, their sound would add so much to the overall experience.

monty python's lumberjack song may very well be the alma mater there; they have a 14,000 acre forest preserve
St Regis mountain is in the background in the first picture

Here's a shot from up at Hamlin Beach State Park (on Lake Ontario). I'd intended to ride further out, but there was a stretch of "rough road" that felt like riding a horse, so I got off at the first exit and backtracked. I hope they get it fixed up, because the Lake Ontario State Parkway is a nice road otherwise.

Here's what's wrong with this young generation - bunch of softies balking even at riding a horse
Luckily Paul Revere wasn't part of these. You know "he who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms, by ringing those bells and making sure, as he is riding his horse through town, to send those warning shots and bells, that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free."

Thanked: 983You need to try some of the roads I ride! I think even a horse would shy away from using them!

I had to go to the bank and noticed a thunder cloud up over the hills. I drove out East so I could get away from the trees and took a picture. It's up around Lassen Volcanic National Park, about 70 miles, as the crow flies from here. Hopefully, it won't start too many lightning fires, we don't need any more firefighters in harms way. I don't know if you have heard, but, 19 smoke jumpers were killed in an Arizona fire the other day, so sad.
