Thanked: 109OFF TOPIC!
:
Reading this thread should make it perfectly clear why the US Government can't seem to compromise and get something accomplished.
Personally I have more faith in our strengths as a nation than to believe ANY administration can take us down. We the people are more than capable
of destroying anything in our path. When this nihilistic, self-absorbed, greedy, baby-boomer generation finally fades as a viable demographic politically as they have economically the United States of America will have the opportunity to rise on its inherent strengths upon the backs of immigrants as it has in the past.
We all remember immigrants right? Immigrants: those people looking for opportunity not entitlement? Immigrants:Those with strong values born of working class culture where people are measured by their willingness and ability to contribute. Working class culture:People less interested in the latest pop craze and more concerned with their families and lifting themselves out of the degradation which life heaps on the majority of the world's peoples.
Immigrants like our founding fathers who would puke to see what we have done with all this opportunity. The "we" I refer to is none of the faces we see on the small screen or the streets.....it is the face which stares back at us during our morning shave.
And that is all I have to say about that.

It never ceases to amaze me how those alive now and who have profited from and enjoyed advancements made in the 20th century on all fronts seem to want to chuck it all and return to the 19th century somehow thinking that's the way it should be. I can guarantee most of those who are wishing to chuck it all if they could be transported back to say 1900 would have a different opinion of life.

If I came across as wanting to chuck it all I failed. I am disturbed by so many who seem to be willing to chuck so much of what is good and solid and the fruit of great sacrifice of those gone before us. Instead of greatly advancing our own cause by building upon the accomplishments of our ancestors and setting the moral standard and high ground for mankind we have cashed in the equity they created and become bloated, lazy, and self-indulgent. It seems to me the only people appreciating the American dream and wishing to participate aren't U.S. A.mericans. As a nation we dishonor the efforts of our veterans and our ancestors.

Oil
After spending the last year and a half hiring people for a major oil and gas company in Oklahoma who had more jobs than we could find qualified applicants for...I feel confident in saying drilling for oil and gas IN the US is higher than it has ever been. There are some SPECIFIC instances where he has STALLED drilling which you seem to be holding on to for dear life for...but you simply couldn't be more wrong.

Source?
PDF from the DOJ:
Total state + federal prisoners in 2010: 1,612,395 (Table 1)
Total state + federal non-citizen prisoners in 2010: 95,977 (Appendix Table 25)
That's about 6% -- where did you get 33% from?

Here is part of the Email I got.
7. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
Verify at:

This link works Justice Dept. Figures on Incarcerated Illegals not 30% but much higher than your numbers.

If you do a thorough search you will find that the government doesn't spend much time gathering Data on the issue. They don't want to know.

When you say "prison population" it should include both state and federal prisons, unless you specify which you're referring to. There are far more people incarcerated at state prisons.
The government does gather data. Maybe you think they don't publish it, but it's most definitely there.
I'll stick with the DOJ's numbers since they're the ones who have access to, and report on, the actual numbers. The first link you provided is newsmax.com, a conservative site; the second link is CIS.org, an organization whose goal is to reduce immigration in the US; and the sex crimes link has little to do with the incarceration numbers that I was originally questioning.
