Amongst the players, the ones for whom I feel the most grief are the older ones. Love or hate him, I'd love to watch Jaromir Jagr for one more season. He embarrassed me on occasion, and it mollifies my ego that he did it to current members of the Hall of Fame (Ray Bourque et al.), and can still do it to future members! I don't pay much attention to professional sports but I would like to see him play one more season. Back when I played youth hockey he was the up and coming star who was kicking butt but it was predicted that he couldn't stand up to Gretzky or Orr or one of the other greats that played well for more than two or three seasons.
It's always nice seeing an athlete with that much skill who loves the sport and doesn't act like a ruffian (cough cough, lots of NFL/NBA players).

Since you know this, MLA, what is the latest date this lock out could last, before the season cannot be played?

I don't know for certain. However, as the NHL's marquee regular season game has now been cancelled, GO GET YOUR REFUND FROM THE PANTHERS!
My reasoning is as follows:
-All November games have been cancelled
-Winter Classic scheduled for Jan. 1 has been cancelled
-Players were issued their escrow cheques earlier this week (this is the money withheld from their pay from last season -- it deals with the revenue sharing stipulations from the now-expired CBA and is too complicated for the likes of me to even attempt to explain).
With these 3 facts in mind, how could one hold games in December (which have not been cancelled yet), yet not play the WC? If there are now no games scheduled for Jan 1 (WC), why bother adhering to the schedule for the rest of that week?
IMO, there will now be no season. I'm sorry! Now go get your $$$ and enjoy your trip to Vietnam, Sir!
