I'm also a native Floridian and I've been in more hurricanes than I can count including '04 when there were 4 or 5 in one year. Having been without power for 10 days once and 12 on another post storm occasion, I can tell you how to take a cold shower. Just turn you shower on and ease in with the water hitting your feet, work up to your knees. Stay there for a couple of minutes and let your blood circulate and then go for it and get the rest of you in there. After a few days of that it is easy. Cold water shaving is pretty nice too. Good luck to all in the path of the storm. Praying for your well being.

Things have been getting steadily worse here in Baltimore Maryland. Nothing horrific yet, but I here its going to keep getting worse. I've been down south before during severe weather and I'm no stranger to these storms and take them very seriously and I know full well what they can do. I pray the historic district here in Catonsville deep in the valley does OK, that place has had some legendary floods in the past and I suspect its about to get another one.

Stay Safe Out There-Huricane Sandy
I'm here in Jersey, about 5 minutes from Point Pleasant Beach. Lost power around 14:30...it's a cold reminder of how dependent we are on everything powered lol.
We're safe and dry for the moment, I guess I'll get to give cold water shaving a try this week
Stay safe everyone!

Thanked: 60That photo is not the Freedom tower. It is the "billionaire's building" on 57th ST.

What I'm really not looking forward to is the clean up for this one around these parts. Let's just say the local power company got so overwhelmed on the last big storm we had that help came from as far as Canada to bail out our sorry behinds. Dang gas and electric company didn't keep up on their tree pruning and power lines got slapped down everywhere. They promise things will be different this time, but I'm a bit skeptical given their past performance.
Of course this could be a good thing, I can live just fine without technology and actually enjoy the quiet and the candlelight. Also its good fun watching all my friends and family with Iphones and their texting freak right the heck out when they're cut off from it.

When no one has power for miles around the night sky is amazing. More stars than we could ever imagine are plainly seen. Takes a few days to get used to no power. Candles, battery lanterns and such help though. If you have them.
