Ironically, the fact that you & I voted today, Shooter, gives MLA & others inside our boarders, the right to complain. I am glad he has that right; even though it wears on me sometimes.
I can't speak for MLA or other Canadians, never been to Canada; hope to make it there before I die,,but I've been to Eastern Europe a few times & married a woman from there. I deal with a lot of Eastern Europeans here with & without citizenships. Complaining about certain conditions in America appears to be common. At first, I felt as you, Shooter,,,thought about it a lot.
The one explanation I can came up with is; that here in America, they have a voice, people here listen. That's a good thing overall. They don't have to worry about a knock on their door at 2am, over a political statement they posted on the internet or a comment overheard at a diner.
In time, most transplants from other countries, adjust to America.

You must be a citizen to vote...not to bitch. The framers were not citizens until the Union was formed...but they bitched.

I have lived in lets see... 6 country's. And by live I mean spent more than two years there. In every country I have ever been in, bitching, moaning, and griping has been a national pass-time. Just read a newspaper.
It's a good thing me thinks. It shows involvement. It's those people who don't gripe, bitch, and moan that bother me. Complacency is exactly whats wrong with so many institutions from mom and pops stores, to big business, to government.
As a Canuck in the USA, I bitch and moan but I would hope that no one would ever take that to mean I don't love this country and want the best for it, and all it's citizens including my two Yankee kids! I have paid HUGE to be here, and I wouldn't ever change that though at times it's trying. I came here by choice, and Kansas has been very good to me... very good.

Thanked: 247Sadly, I did not vote. I attempted to vote. I found out voting at the clerks office closed yesterday..hmm. So then they said I could go to my precint and vote. But they didn't have me on record as registering. So, after a couple hours of dogged determination that I was registered, and entitled, they produced a document I had signed in 2011, declining voter registration. So..I'm not feeling especially smart right now....But do I get any rights to complain later? Not that I'm much of a complainer..I just like to have the option.
