You have it backwards. That is the boss showing us proper technique.

I don't know about free climbing a route like that, would really want an experienced belayer below, you know just in case

Today I came second in a two horse race...

The local bouldering club had a competition and I entered. I wanted to enter the beginner's category (I've been climbing less than a year). The grades at the club are (in order, least difficult first) white, yellow, blue, brown, green, pink). I normally climb blues, but the comp categories were whites and yellows, blues and browns, and green and pinks.

So I decided to go in the whites and yellows category, but they put me in the masters (over 40) and it was just me and another guy; who happened to have been climbing for 15 years and who is the president of the Climbing Club of South Australia.

So, ended up getting NO blues (there were only two anyway), but flashed (got on the first attempt) all the whites and yellows.

I didn't know there was a prize for second in the Masters, and even though I came second in a two horse race, at least I was running. Quite happy about that..

good job, 2nd out of two is still way better than not trying in the first place. The important thing is getting out and doing it. I came in third out of three in my first triathlon and still felt like king of the world lol

Looking good Carl, glad to see you competing & a nice looking medal.

,,,,,,at least you got a 2nd place medal,,,I've got several 3rd place judo medals where there was only three of us, I had to get beat up twice to get that 3rd place medal.

How did you place related to the other whites and yellows?

It is a feat to be bouldering at 40+!
