    Default Neighbor's Pit Bulls

My new neighbor has two pit bulls. They like to dig under the fence. My wife is afraid of pit bulls and they acts very aggressively when them come into our yard.

The city refuses to come out unless we capture the dogs. We have talked to the neighbors several times, they simply refuse to believe that their dogs act in any was aggressively.

They acted aggressively toward me until I pointed a gun at them and then they went back under the fence.

The neighbor won't even bother to refill the holes the dogs have dug. We have done so numerous times.

We have fought them to a standstill by adding crushed Habanieros to the dirt. We have also banged their noses a few times when they stuck them under the fence.

I'm sure we have had at lease one cat if not two killed by them. I don't want to shoot them.

Sound like you're in a pretty rough spot. I would never suggest killing the dogs, but you should let your neighbors know that if they come into your yard, and if you feel like you or your wife is in danger that you will shoot them. If that alone doesn't scare the owners for the safety of their dogs then they probably don't care about them that much and you'll have to do what you have to do.

Animal control won't take care of it?

Be prepared to shoot them at all times,Most are very nice Dogs. But with 2200 PSI jaw presser, they are worse than a loaded gun around children.
They can and do kill people.

I agree. I have two pits and they are nothing but big teddy bears. But the more aggressive ones can be really dangerous.

How about a 12 gauge loaded with rock salt ? Even a 410. Might discourage further adventures under the fence. Did you report the cats being killed to the police ..... ASPCA ? Some agency ought to be responsible to do something under the circumstances.

    Pit Bull Myths

Regardless of the real facts, any dog that comes on to your property is Yours,,, if it is aggressive and I had no choice even being a Dog Lover I would shoot it...

When you pull a weapon be prepared to use it, if you use it, shoot to kill, and be perpared to have to defend your actions in court, so make sure you have exhausted all other possible avenues...

Being you are in Texas and it is a Pit Bull I bet ya win in court though

On another note, and perhaps another idea , when the wife and I ride the 4 wheelers we carry breakaway pepper spray around our necks just for all the loose dogs,, I don't want to shoot one because they like to chase the noisy machines but I also don't want either of us to get bit, so if they come to close we will spray them if we can't outrun them safely..
One blast of pepper spray and then lose interest vey fast
I have a doubt that the wife will shoot a dog unless it attacks one of hers, but she points that pepper spray rather fast, and doesn't hesitate to give them a taste if they get too close..

Dont shoot them if you dont have to, too much potential for legal problems. Get yourself a cheapo electric cattle fence DE-60, .15 Joule Energizer | Enforcer Series, 110 Volt Electric Fence Plug In

We had the same problem with some neighbors labs years ago, they weren't aggressive by any means, but you know labs; they like to chew and dig everything, and continually dug up plants, chewed up extension cords and what not. We went so far as to put railroad ties next to the fence, and they still managed to get it. They were good dogs, but were destroying our back yard. Here's a trick we used, non lethal, but it put a stop to it toot sweet. Take some pellets or bb's soak em in habenaro juice, and let them dry to leave the powder on them. 10-12 pumps of an air gun, and a few pops in their asses w/ those "hot rounds" (yes lame pun I know), and after about two or three times of that if they saw us in the yard they'd run like hell from the fence.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

The electric fence might pose even more legal problems if there are Kids in the neighborhood, it also might be flat illegal with an ajoining fence, I would check the laws first...
