I am just following proper protocol for watering sod in Vegas. We are at 3% humidity and averaging 101 degrees! That's 38 Celsius for our SI sensitive friends around the globe. I know you are into gardening and appreciate the tips but sod here dies in a few hours if you don't pour the water on for the first month. We also have no soil here, I had to squeeze ten yards of topsoil into the space which gave me about 4 inches or about 10 cm of top soil.
On the fun side, I have honed mower blades before, with a four inch angle grinder!! Or a 10 cm powered bevel banger or whatever the heck you guys call it across the pond! Ha ha.Last edited by WhiskerHarvest; 06-21-2013 at 09:11 PM.
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

I am so glad the brunt of this yard work is over before the heat really set in. Now I can focus on more rewarding pursuits like cleaning up a few recent purchases. I also have a new razor to throw on show and tell this weekend. Can't wait to blow some socks off with this beauty!

I'd be proud to have a BBQ in that yard.

With that heat you would need no charcoal. When I visited Vegas the thing that I thought was neat was the Cactus and rock lawns. I hate mowing grass and won't water or fertilize it because then it just grows! I have thought about it here but for sure if i lived in that climate I would just get Astro turf.
Nice looking yard though. Although I would never do it I can appreciate the time and expense to have it.

Welcome to the world of the never ending (and I mean never ending) source of joy (work) that is gardening.:-). Nice job though. FYI 4inch is 100mm or there abouts :-)
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

All the work in the heat must have fried my noggin. 2.54x4 is nowhere near twenty!
My work will be quadrupled with the addition of a greenhouse, fountain and I am doing a courtyard in the front. Its worth it though, for the kids and a happy wife!
Thanks for checking my work Ed, twice!Last edited by WhiskerHarvest; 06-21-2013 at 10:09 PM.
