Concave razor Can anyone identify it?
Hi,
Some time ago I bought an old, rather unusual straight razor.
5/8", 1/2 Hollow Ground. A bit rusty, lots of black oxydation.
Blond horn scales but quite rotten.
There is no name on the tang, only the inscription Concave Razor. Above it, hardly visible,
letters VR (Victoria Regina) or WR (William Rex). Between the letters, a shadow of a crown,
typical for Sheffield razors. Searching the web, I've seen similar blades, apparently made by J. Elliot.

.. do you have any pics of the closed one as well (I'd like to see hot the circle cutout in the scales looks like with the blade closed )

Funny thing. I have been discussing a razor I have with Voidmonster (and maybe he will come along) but check out the profile of the tang. I can find no info and I HAVE a name :<0)

He was guessing early 1800's to mid and maybe London. Yours looks like an Eliot he has. At any rate the tangs look a lot alike.Last edited by 10Pups; 01-15-2014 at 11:46 PM.

I could be wrong but it might be "I. R. Frodxin cast steel made by Ignaz Rosler in Nixdorf Bohemia." I found one on strazors.com. Hope it helps.
