Much nicer than "made to look new" with no character left. As usual, great job!

Thanks, My Friend! Perhaps I will send one of them for a test? I could be wrong, after all!
I am enjoying them immensely so far!

Great looking work! Please don't forget to post again in 2165 when you will probably need to refresh them again.

These were not too bad and since I do consider these to be an investment toward my collection, I wanted to keep their good traits while lightly improving their bad ones. I have seen so many in this condition with the scales lopped off, replaced with something not nearly accurate, and the blade sanded and buffed to oblivion. The value goes down the drain as a collectible as that is done. The history is also erased. There are too many in bad shape out there to use as a custom canvas, IMO.

I love making something from nothing, but as I begin with an actual something, I try to refrain from doing too much. Just me
Just got into SR a couple of months ago and have gotten bit bad! But I like razors that are restored as in stock/original. Been reading back thru years of posts in the razors/show and tell/customs and restorations threads. Lots of post titles saying " my ____ restoration " and when you open the post it's an old razor but with some glow in the dark acrylic scales. That's fine, just don't label it a " restoration ". It's a Custom restoration!!!
If you had a '67 Camaro that you made a low rider with huge fender flairs with 20" rims and low profile tires, it's a custom, not a restoration.
I love seeing all the work people do to recover old razors and they are awesome, but if it doesn't look like it did when the manufacturer released it 100-150 years ago, it's NOT a restoration. Doesn't have to be shiny and mirror finished as patina is awesome but it should be wearing its original clothes!! I know quite well that there are tons of very old SR out there that are well beyond original restoration and I love seeing what people do to make them functional again. Some are truely amazing and I love seeing them and your details on the work required to get them there.
Sorry for the rant but I have collected old stuff ( cars, knives, furniture, etc ) my whole life and nothing was worse than driving 75 miles to look at an antique item and find out they ruined it by improper " restoration " attempts. ( learned that the hard way!! )
I just got a couple of razors in and will be looking for help/ideas on bringing them back. Got an awesome mid 1800's Mappin Brothers 13/16 and an A. J. Jordan The Celebrated.
Thanks and just my opinion! YMMV!

I know what you feel, being appreciative of antiques myself. TBH, in seeing some which are back on the line in original trim, just cleaned, interest seems to be growing. Saving the nice ones is imperative to collecting.
As has been said, holding history in-hand means a lot to some.
Yet mirror-shiny and new scales appeal to others! Plenty old razors to go around for anyone's taste!
What makes us all different, I suppose.
