Yes, I am thinking of using the scales from the bottom razor on the top one as they are better.
In taking a 8/8 down to 7/8 or below, the length seems to be disproportionate. I feel I will take off the end til it looks good?
Then, I figure I shall need some smaller Henckels scales. May be OK?
In any rate, I hope either one eventually rivals the one here. A Real Beaut!

Oh...I mis-read what you posted. I thought the crack was near the toe and you were thinking of making a 'shorty'...Duh!!!

I don't know if you'll need to shorten the blade. The one I did is about 23 mm...slightly less than 15/16... and it is a full size (length) blade. I think it you end up at 7/8 you can stay full size...JMO.

Ya, I see what you are saying. The crack is a tad south of the middle. I just hate to see a blade too long for it's width.

Wow, what a great restore. Well done.

I'm particularly partial to Henckels as they were my first Straights

Great workmanship! Rumor has it that Filarmonica blades are German-made.

At first I was sceptical of that notion, I have the #14 Filarmonica, #14 Palmera, and the #14 Henckels, and I have to say my own personal experience leads me more to the camp that RobinK is correct, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference shaving with any of them, they are indistinguishable IME.

Not owning any of the makes of #14 blades but just going by photos of them my impression was that they may easily be the same blades. Yes, RobinK may be correct on that but there is still no hard records to prove that but everything else points to that.
