Thread: Tightening pins

The blade is straight.
Maybe the craftsman was drunk with a hand held drill?
You can see light through the holes but its drilled at an angle.
I'll put it together with micro bolts and see what happens.
T.I oddities don't surprise me.

I think the reason the blade sits to one side is because the pin holes are not in alignment.

Should I shove some Epoxy in the hole and then drill out a new one?
Any tips would help. I've never used Epoxy before and getting it to fill the hole might be dodgy or am I being a big girl about it

Thanked: 485You know what I'd do? I'd buy some new scales. It certainly does look like the holes are skewiff. If you don't feel comfortable replacing the scales I'm sure you'd find someone here who could do it for you.

Seems the OP would be well-served to use the search function of the forum for a few weeks before gathering all this odd, expert attention.
All of these things have been sorted .
If the OP is ripping those picbone scales off and going for 'new and shiny' , I think it is all for naught.
Could be rubbish?

Here's my suggestion. Pick up a pack of Araldite two part epoxy. Use something like duck tape on the inside scales to prevent the epoxy from running through - mix the epoxy and stir until the consistency is no longer runny, then pack into the pivot holes and wipe off any excess. When that is set, smooth down with fine paper and re-drill - a dremel stand or pillar drill is preferable if available.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

I have ordered some cheapo Epoxy - could be a mistake.
I was thinking along the same lines as you but placing tape on the external part of the scales . I want to try to avoid sanding down the outside of the scale because it has a glossy finish.
Thanks for the advise.
Edit: I just ordered some Araldite.Last edited by JOB15; 09-03-2015 at 12:41 PM.
