Wade & Butcher: Unusual "Notch Point"
I don't know how old this one is...I would guess 1840's-1850's. An old Wade and Butcher with an unusual barber's notch or 'notch point'. Finished with a 'high polish' and stainless steel domed washers. The original scales were repaired and restored as well...

Thanks guys! If at all possible I will always prefer to restore the original scales. They are never quite as 'perfect' as a new set of scales, BUT there's something about original restored scales that really makes me smile. These were not easy to finish. There were a lot of chips and cracks that had to be repaired, and at some time someone had absolutely "soaked" these in Neetsfoot oil, making the horn rather spongy and difficult to work with.
Turned out OK though...Lupus Cohors - Appellant Mors !

Wow
I didn't think that would come out so well.
I guess I have a lot to learn as I would have written that one off.
Amazing save.

That's a stunning transformation of both the blade and scales.
